The Space:
If you’re looking for a peaceful beach getaway, this bright and airy ground-floor condo at Santamar by Tao in Akumal is the place you want to be! Akumal is one of the most beautiful places on the coast of the Riviera Maya, Mexico, and you’ll have so much at your fingertips that you may find it hard to venture out from the Santamar complex.
As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a spacious and charming living room, complete with cozy seating and a Smart TV for relaxing downtime moments at home. The living room seamlessly flows into the dining area, where you can enjoy delicious meals together at the dining table. Outside, you'll find a private patio with cushioned seating where you can relax and soak up the beautiful garden view.
The fully-equipped kitchen features modern appliances, including a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Whether you're a culinary enthusiast or simply want to prepare a quick snack, you'll find everything you need here. The breakfast bar not only provides extra seating for dining, but it can also serve as a laptop-friendly workspace if needed.
There are 2 lovely bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms to accommodate 4 guests, one with a king bed and the other with a queen.
At Santamar by Tao complex, you can enjoy the shared amenities like the 5 rooftop pools, one at each tower, and guests have access to all of them! Two ground-level pools, with the larger one directly behind the building for this condo, a private Santamar Beach Club with 2 more pools, a bathroom facility, and access to a private beach.
Guest Access:
Santamar is tucked away in a beautiful jungle setting, accessible only via an unpaved road, so a car is necessary to navigate the road since the property is not accessible by foot.
You’ll have full, exclusive access to the condo and shared access to the complex amenities.
The Neighborhood:
Akumal is truly a natural wonder. In Mayan, Akumal means “The Place of Turtles,” and it lives up to its name as it’s one the top nesting spots in the Mexican Caribbean, and it hosts a marine research center dedicated to protecting sea turtles. There are also many things to see and do around Akumal, like snorkeling, scuba, paddle boarding, kite surfing, and boating. Plus, eco-parks with underground rivers, ancient Mayan ruins, cenotes (natural freshwater sinkholes), and of course, the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary (located in the pueblo/jungle side of Akumal).
- Nearby vital amenities like small convenience stores, all within a short drive to Akumal town. The larger grocery store Chedraui is located on the highway in Puerto Aventuras, about 22 km | 14 miles from the property.
- Swim with sea turtles at Akumal Bay 3.2 km|2 mi, visit the Wellness Center or lounge, and eat at La Buena Vida!
- 25 miles to Playa del Carmen & 16 miles to Tulum, fabulous towns with shopping and a large variety of dining options.
- Kay Beach Club is less than a 10-minute drive (1 mile away) and is a public Beach Club run by Tao. Here, you can go Snorkeling or Scuba Diving!
- Beached Bikini Bar is only a 15-minute walk south on the beach.
- Casa Clulb at Tulum Country Club (PGA golf course) is located across the street from Santamar entrance road, about 4.4 km | 2.7 mi away. And Grand Bahia Residences & Golf is about 4.7 km | 2.9 mi away.
Getting Around:
Santamar by Tao is 94 km | 58.4 miles from the Cancun International Airport (CUN). Please check your mobile map apps for accurate driving time once you arrive. The development is situated on the beachside of the highway in Akumal and is only accessible by vehicle.
Other Things to Note:
Electricity is expensive here, so please help save energy by using the AC only when needed, closing all windows and doors when it's on, and shutting it off every time you leave. A daily allowance of 20Kw/Day of electricity is included for short-term rentals (2-27 nights). Additional consumption will be charged at 3.85 mxn/kw. Electricity is not included for bookings of 28 nights or more. On arrival, our local team will take a meter reading, and again on departure. You will be billed after check-out for any additional consumption.

We do supply some bath essentials to get you started, like some toilet paper, and soap. These items are not replenished each time you run out.
- Travelers must be at least 21 years of age or older to book.
- Guests will be requested to sign a Rental Agreement upon booking confirmation.
- Please note that there is a mandatory cleaning service every from 21 nights on & every 21 days, at a charge of $50 USD. If your stay is between 21 and 42 nights, you'll be charged an additional $50; for stays between 42 and 63 nights, two cleaning fees ($100 total) will apply, and for every additional 21 nights thereafter, $50 will be charged.
- No smoking of any kind inside the home! Drug use and illegal activity on the premises are also strictly prohibited. Failure to comply results in a $300 fine.
- No parties, events, or excessive noise after 10 pm. Please respect the neighbors.
- No more guests than those listed in your reservation are allowed. There’s an extra charge for additional guests and visitors over the property's capacity.
- Guests are responsible for damages that occur or extra cleaning costs as a result of their stay.
- There are outdoor security cameras for safety and security.
- Depending on the booking site to make the reservation, a security deposit might be required that is refunded after check-out, provided all terms are met.
- Guests might be required to present an official ID at check-in or during the stay.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Pool and common area rules and hours must be respected.
Interaction with Guests:
The place is self-check-in using the key in the lockbox to enter. All the information you’ll need, like the codes, entrance through the guarded gates, and check-in instructions, will all be provided to you at least 24 hours before arrival.
