We have spent many years as a large family group holidaying in Villas around Andalucia, though this was our fist visit, as a family, to Almunecar.
From the minute we enquired about the villa to the time we arrived, June was helpful, courteous and prompt in all her communications with us.
the villa itself is wonderful. its very large with amazing terraces and views over the Mediterranean. there was easy enough space for our large group (9 adults) in the house and on the terraces. the villa is well equipped, it had everything we needed.
A special mention for the ice dispenser on one of the two fridges, which ensured our sangria was always well chilled whilst we watched the sunset over the med..
the kitchen was a little well used in places, but no more than any other villa we have stayed in (its a holiday home!!!)
We, of course, used the bbq more than the kitchen :)
the villa is located at the top of a hill, so as has been said a car is important if you intend to get supplies from one of the many local supermarkets.
there are a couple of walks down into town, one was pretty easy (our 70+ year old parents managed it without issue), you can then walk along the beach into Almunecar. the walk directly into Almunecar was a little more strenuous, but was easily manageable. we never attempted the walk back.. but finding a taxi in town was easy, cheap and took only 5 mins.
Almunecar is a great town, and has a little something for everyone, lots of small winding streets in the old town, with typical and authentic Spanish bars (with free tapas!), shops and restaurants. Lots of beach bars serving amazing food directly on any of the beaches, and some more lively spots for the younger members of our group.
There is lots to see, including Parks and live music, an Aquarium, and even a Castle!
its definitely feels more authentic than many of the other places we have been, and we cannot wait to return
We would all definitely recommend June and Ron's Villa...and Almunecar
