The view of Wimbleball Lake, and proximity to the lakeside footpath (while still being uphill enough to have privacy from other walkers) make this very comfortable and tastefully decorated lodge a unique place to stay.
It was everything we wanted: a well-equipped kitchen to cook in so that we didn't need to venture out in the evenings, a fenced-off garden for our dog to play in (even a dog towel was provided which showed how welcome our dog was), milk in the fridge and ground coffeee beans for the percolator, and all the information we needed on the area in a file on the dining table.
On our first full day, we went to a nearby village for a cream tea, and drove through the moors, but on the second day we decided to just stay in and enjoy the accommodation itself. Just sitting on the deck in the sunshine and watching the rowers and sailboats on the lake, then wandering down to the path to walk the dog, was one of the most enjoyable days we have had on holiday.
This is the place to stay if you want tranquility in beautiful surroundings. Stock up on supplies before you arrive, and you won't really want to leave! More energetic people might want to take part in watersports at the centre which is a short walk along the footpath.
Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. They let us know that they were nearby (the lodge is on their farm, but set facing away from the house) if we needed them, but we found that they had already provided everything.
We would very much like to return.
