Guest access
Welcome to Sunset bluff house located in the coastal community of Port Maitland. All travellers should be prepared to drive on a dirt road as parts of Main Shore Road are not paved. The driveway is private and well-marked with our civic address. Once you turn into the driveway, you should see our house overlooking the water.
Please be mindful of our neighbour's privacy and please keep away from the cliff. The house is well designed to give you viewpoints of the ocean at every angle.
Other things to note
The house is located in the High Head section of the quiet village of Short Beach, only a short drive (about 10 minutes) from the town of Yarmouth. Short Beach is located 10 minutes from the CAT ferry from Maine, USA.
The town of Yarmouth has restaurants, shops, harbour tours, golf and other tourist activities. Yarmouth also has several grocery stores and other shopping. The Yarmouth Links golf course is located just outside of the town of Yarmouth. Cape Forchu lighthouse and Leif Ericson Park and Trail, a local tourist attraction, is approximately a 15-minute car ride from the house.
Approximately 55 minutes to the north is the town of Digby with its world-famous scallop fleet. Digby has an excellent assortment of waterfront restaurants and shops. Just south of Digby is the entrance to a long stretch of shore and islands known as Digby Neck. Route 217 runs between the Bay of Fundy on one side and the waters of St. Mary's Bay on the other. The road winds through fishing villages and countryside and will require some short ferry crossings. The ferries run hourly 24 hours a day and are themselves worth the trip. On your way down don't miss Balancing Rock. A half hour hike takes you to the shore and the rock that seems to defy the laws of gravity. The final ferry brings you to Brier Island an ecological treasure. Some of the best whale watching in the world can be found in the waters surrounding Brier Island.
