Stylish Oasis in the West End of Richmond, entire house except master bedroom

Located in the heart of west Henrico County, this secluded 4000sf European style trendy home features a high tech kitchen with its countless fine utensils and small appliances. Parties >15 is not allowed. 3 bedrooms and 1 office provide 3 queen beds, 1 twin futon. The neighborhood is quiet and there's plenty of parking off street, less than 0.5 mile to shopping clusters on Staples Mill Road between Hungary Road and E. Parham Road. Ideal for business professionals and corporate travelers. Please do not email me to ask if my house is available at such dates...the website shows you the available listings after you put down your travel dates. I will not return your email if you ask if my house is available because I think you may be a scammer. We pre-charge the use of the pool and the hot tub. You need to let us know after booking if you want to use the pool and the hot tub. The website does not have the function to turn off a specific charge based on seasons. For example, if I do not charge the pool in the winter, people end up booking my place for the summer, I end up losing money because there's no fee listed for using the pool in the summer. After booking and you send us an email informing us that you will not use the pool, for example, we will refund you the pool usage fee after you checkout.

Only Issue was the Check In
We loved the house and the location. Very centrally located for visiting the sights of Richmond. The backyard was an urban oasis. Property was clean and well appointed. Only issue was that the door code was not given out until the day of check in contrary to the norms for VRBO (which is usually 3 days before check in). As leader of our happy family this made me look for alternatives - hotels etc. - as a bail out as opposed to enjoying the wedding we were attending. Maybe I'm a nervous person but this would keep me from booking the property again - I will check with managers before future VRBO stays. VRBO called the manager on my behalf and offered no solution.

Needs real beds in 2 out of 4 rooms for price paid.
The bed on the floor is hard to get up and down off floor and very thin-not comfortable. The futon also isn't comfortable for the "4 th bedroom"either so really 2/4 beds aren't real bedrooms for comfortable sleeping. Not sure why they both couldn't be converted to real queen beds- plenty of space in both rooms for comfort of guests. Great location and nice pool/hot tub area outside. Needs pool chairs versus plastic chairs that didn't hold larger men well.

Abusive and deceptive owner
This is only the 2nd time I have ever had to leave a negative review. But it feels important to warn others. Positives: The ping pong table and pool were fun to have. It's a short drive into the heart of Richmond. Negatives: Most importantly, this house does NOT have four bedrooms as advertised. The pictures even list 4 bedrooms but upon arrival it became clear the owner had intentionally pictured the same room twice, from a different angle, as a purported 4th bedroom. When I called the owner to inquire about the 4th bedroom (there were many locked doors and we thought perhaps the 4th bedroom was mistakenly locked), she actually started screaming at me! She said that the office (where a computer is set up) is the 4th bedroom and we can sleep on the futon. This office is not what is pictured as advertised as a 4th bedroom. She threatened to cancel our reservation because I had questioned her about this bedroom. We only rented this house specifically because we needed 4 bedrooms. That was by far the worst, but unfortunately there were many other small negatives which cumulatively contributed to a negative experience. Some of them include: 1) a rattling noise coming from above the induction stove that persisted throughout our stay, 2) the water dispenser in the fridge leaked every time we used it, 3) the shower on the 2nd floor pooled water in the tub, 4) a train would go by regularly during night & early a.m, 5) slanted, uncomfortable futon, 6) confusing check in info.

Very nice property. We enjoyed our stay, the only thing that would have made it better is if the pool was available (weather didn’t cooperate). We would definitely recommend this home.

Near Thanksgiving Disaster
Host was nonresponsive about 1 month prior to arrival. Gave no arrival instructions and it took VRBO over an hour to get host on the phone. She did not remember we had booked and said her messages from me did not show up. They did in October and she responded then. We drove 10 hours to Richmond and had family flying in the next day. Host needs to work on responsiveness and create a backup system for pending rentals. A calendar perhaps would work. We very nearly had to find new accommodation for our whole family for the holiday because the host did not remember that we had booked. The house was fine but it was obvious that we were not expected. Not a great way to start the holiday

We had an amazing stay! House was clean and more than we expected once we arrived! Plan to go back next year for our travel swim meet! We were only 2, but this house can accommodate at least 8-10!! Highly recommend!

Great Location - Very Nice House
The house was great for our family to use as "home base" for gathering, playing ping pong, hanging on the back deck and cooking up great family meals (awesome kitchen with everything we needed + grill outside) while going to University of Richmond for events. Super convenient to grocery stores, shopping etc., lots of parking, only about 20+ minutes to the airport. Nice spaces for everyone to gather, or to spread out as needed! Hot tub was an added bonus!! The Property Manager, Charmaine was responsive and easy to work with (and on top of any issues as the grandparents were the first to arrive at the house and inadvertently set off the alarm - oops!) Thank you!
