Locked Out 1st Night
The information emailed to me about our reservation was very specific. We would receive the lockbox code the day before we arrived. Our international flight was severely delayed, so we arrived at the apartment after 21:30 the first night. No email.
We called the property manager phone number but they closed at 21:00. We called VRBO, and they called whatever phone numbers they had with the property manager. No answer.
There was no other choice but to hire an Uber driver, haul our baggage down and find a hotel. When I spoke to the property manager the next day, they emailed the lockbox code so we could use the apartment for night number 2. Hired another Uber driver, took our luggage into the apartment.
Our one night in the apartment was interesting. Once the lights were out, we realized that the draperies over the sliding balcony doors were thin, not lined. They let in the glare from the street light outside, so all night the room was lit up as if we had turned on the lamps. So, very little sleep.
The room was clean, so that was a positive.
Instead of the property manager gladly refunding our money for the first night, we were told that a complaint would need to be filed to get our money back. I don’t appreciate being given something else to do when it was their lack of communication that caused this disaster.
Unless you are a glutton for punishment, this might not be a place you wish to stay.
